See, this is why I hate yoga class. It’s usually chock full of uppity, snot-nosed, snarky bitches downward-facing-fucking-dog. I just can’t with this one who wrote on XO Jane about being in yoga class when GASP! a large black woman entered. And all Jen Caron (the skinny white yogi-blogger) could think the whole time is how this woman must OBVIOUSLY be feeling being big, black, and “new” to yoga (I place new in quotations because Caron never spoke to her, she just assumed she was a novice and uncomfortable holding poses) in a room full of white girls. Anywho, Caron’s piece quickly became more about weight than race, and Feministing’s Sesali Bowen responded with class.

I cannot handle what is happening to women in America and how it seems everyone wants to control our bodies all the time, even when WE ourselves sometimes have no control of them and the things that happen to them (like, for example, miscarriages). “This week, the Alabama Senate is set to consider a cruel bill (HB 31) that would permit the hospital staff, including any doctor, nurse, counselor, or lab technician, to refuse to participate in any phase of patient medical care related to ending a pregnancy, even if that is what a patient like this woman needs to protect her own health and future fertility.”
