When you're weary and tired - feministing

I, too, like the author of this article, have tried my hardest to stay away from the Sandra Bland story. It is downright disgusting that every other day there is another story, another murder, another controversy surrounding black men and women in this nation of the "free". But it has been damn near impossible to resist hearing about it or reading about it from racists and media and uneducated bloggers that all have something to say. However, although I am not a black woman, Sesali's article particularly resonated with me because I write and fight for equality for women and believed things were getting better. I believed for so long that race and prejudice were the hurdles we cleared, the ones we get to preface as we fight for equality. But when our black men and women fear traffic stops and hooded attire, I no longer believe freedom has come.

Sex-shaming - Peach, Plum, Orange

If you've ever been shamed by someone else for being proud of your body, read this post. He eloquently explains why they're the assholes, not you.

Girls (The New F-Word) - All I Know Now

PREACH! Seriously, this post says it all. I will always support feminism and those who promote it when its intent is to define, establish, and defend EQUALITY FOR ALL SEXES AND GENDER in terms of political, economical, and social rights. Also, I like my bras and cannot afford to burn them, and I really, really love me some men.

Why would you want to be a doula? - SeaSideDoula

"Women should not see their pregnant bodies as fat, stretched out, or swollen. Women should not see birth as scary, painful, or gross. Women should see their pregnant bodies with pride and dignity, and treat them with honor and value. Women should see birth as empowering and orgasmic, and treat it like what it is: a miracle."

What Privilege Really Means (And Doesn’t Mean) – To Clear Up Your Doubts Once and For All - everyday feminism

Maisha Z. Johnson explains why having privilege doesn't mean you're a bad person or that you haven't experienced oppression.

"He was opposed to women having a say in anything" The ugly views of America's latest mass shooter - Salon

John Russell Houser, the shooter who opened fire in a Louisiana cinema Thursday night (killing two others and himself) was as anti-feminist as they come. There are no words to explain the horror of living in a nation where one can be killed for being a woman or gay or black. What the fuck are we going to do?
